today i checked out a possible rescue dog for my sister. it didn't work out (she decided it isn't the right time for a dog). however - this dog was young (2 years old) in good health, dropped off at the shelter with his vet records. probably his owner died or became handicapped. however, since there was no room at the shelter, they were about to put him to sleep when Paws for Life rescue rescued him. he will go to a good home. i understand putting to sleep dangerous dogs, even old dogs, and EVEN dogs with social problems... but perfectly healthy, socialized dogs? so sad.
